Attire

Sari is the most popular attire for women all over the state, though the ways of wearing the sari differ in the northern and southern regions. The salwar-kameez is also popular with the younger and urban women. The traditional attire for men includes dhoti, kurta, and kharaun (wooden sandal). In Mithila, a unique part of a man’s dress is the Paag, a turban whose color symbolizes the status of the man wearing it.
