| The canopied rain forests of the islands are home to 3,000 species of plants including mangroves, timbers (teak, mahogany), epiphytes (130 ferns, 100 orchids), palms, woody climbers, and a wide variety of tropical fruits. The marine fauna is diverse and includes a wide variety of tropical fish and coral. Due to the diversity and uniqueness of fauna and flora on these islands, 96 sanctuaries and 9 National Parks have been built here. |
