Industry

Tea industries occupy an important place in Assam’s economy. The 850-odd tea gardens in the state occupy about 2.31 lakh hectares of land.
Coal, petroleum and natural gas, limestone and minor minerals are produced in the state. Coal is mined in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, North Cachar Hills, Sibsagar, and Lakhimpur districts.
