Introduction

Assam is a land of myths and mystery. It has a unique landscape with extensive tea gardens and never-ending stretch of paddy fields along with coconut trees, areca nuts trees and banana trees. Its population consists of different races and tribes like the Aryans, Austrics, Mongoloid, Indo-Burmese, Indo-Tibetans, and Negroids. These tribes have helped each other and have evolved to give the Assamese people a unique character.
